The enemy wants us distracted and focused on what we do not have. Distraction is a quiet form of spiritual warfare that keeps us from God’s presence. When our eyes are not on Christ we become ineffective and neutralized, missing divine opportunities and we become even more vulnerable to greater enemy attacks.
One of the most common distractions is desiring what we do not have. Social media is a great platform for the enemy to show us all of the false realities of those we follow. Capturing a distorted reality through curated highlight reels, leading us to toxic comparisons. For example, the singles that are looking for a spouse, children and a life filled with family activities, become aware of their aloneness. The overextended mom with a family filled with activities is desperately seeking quiet moments, solitude and independence. The one with the prosperous job is desperately desiring that day off or that long needed vacation . While the one desperately seeking provision that has been home with too many days off, needs a job. Or what about the desire to look at someone else’s spouse, drawn to ultimately look at everything yours isn’t, rather than their strengths and offerings. Looking at what you lack in your appearance and in what you find yourself unable to accomplish. As opposed to seeing yourself as unique, chosen, set apart, with something different to present the world. The list can go on and on….
I heard in my spirit, “The plan of the enemy is to keep you so focused on what others have and what you don’t, so you miss what’s right in front of you.” The Lord began reminding me that He has plans for us whether it’s a busy season or a resting season, a wilderness time or an oasis time. He has us there for some purpose and there is so much growth He can offer us, if we will find His intentions for each day. If you are in a busy and hectic season, that doesn’t mean you don’t have time for growth and renewal in each day, you just have to be more intentional. Make the most of your still moments, like the shower, moments alone in the car, and be more deliberate with your thoughts. If you are in a resting season, enjoy the quiet time, solitude and utilize that time to go deeper into the things of God. Start asking Him questions and listening for what His plans are for you. Could it be possible, that there is something so special for you in every appointment, every errand, every trip to the grocery store and every business call you are on? What if you looked at each day as a divine plan with purpose and assignments from the Father. There are people all around us that need encouragement, prayer, fellowship, a kind word. What if your ministry and assignment is right where God has you?
Carpe diem ~ Seize the Day! Live in the present and maximize your current opportunities. Look at what you offer, and what you have, rather than what you do not. Appreciate life’s moments, taking action, living fully, rather than the fear of the unknown and deficiency. Cherish the small simple pleasures in your life and start asking the Lord to show you the joys in what you perceive as the mundane daily routine.
If you can shift your perspective, you can conquer each day differently.
Bible Reflection:
Ephesians 5:15–16. Be careful how you live… Making the most of every opportunity.
Ecclesiastes 9:10. Whatever your hand finds to do do it with all your might, four in the realm of the dead, where you were going, there is neither working nor planning, nor knowledge, nor wisdom.
James 4:14. What is your life for? You are a missed that appears for a little time and then vanishes.
Psalms 90:12, so teach us to number our days that we might get a heart of wisdom.
